Context for a conversation that matters.
Christian singles are often talked about in broad assumptions. These figures offer a better starting point: a view of how many Americans are single, how faith shows up in daily life, and what relationship interest looks like in recent national research.
Data does not tell every person’s story. It can, however, make the larger picture easier to understand and help communities create more welcoming places for people to meet, belong, and build meaningful relationships.
Americans age 15 and older were unmarried in 2023.
That includes people who had never married, were divorced, or were widowed. It is a reminder that singleness is a meaningful part of American life, not a small fringe experience.
2023 data, released 2024
of U.S. adults identified as Christian in 2023-24.
Christianity remains the country’s largest religious tradition, even as religious identity is changing across generations and communities.
of U.S. adults said they take part in religious services at least monthly, in person or online.
Regular participation creates more opportunities for faith, friendship, and shared life to take shape in real community.
of U.S. adults said they pray daily.
For many people, faith is not simply an identity label. It is part of how they make decisions, seek encouragement, and build their lives.
of single U.S. adults said they were not looking for a relationship or casual dates.
The 2020 survey found that many single adults are not actively pursuing a relationship at a given moment, which makes friendship and low-pressure community especially valuable.
of never-married single adults said they were looking for a relationship or casual dates.
Interest in connection remains strong among people who have never married, even when the path to meeting others can feel uncertain or impersonal.
marriages occurred per 1,000 people in the United States in 2023.
The national marriage rate gives useful context for conversations about relationships, family, and the places where people meet and build support.
Beyond the numbers
Connection is still worth making room for.
People carry different stories into singleness. Some are actively dating. Some are healing, building friendships, or simply looking for a more life-giving community. Faith can make those conversations richer, but it does not make them automatic.
That is why real-world spaces matter. A shared meal, an honest conversation, or a room where people can show up without pressure gives connection more room to grow than a profile ever could.
